The Course

The Links at Barwon Heads regularly rates in Australia’s top golf courses. It is currently the highest ranked public access course on mainland Australia.

The nearby Bass Strait and sand dunes along with the weather conditions provide a course reminiscent of famed Scottish links. The undulating terrain, in harmony with the natural features of the land will ensure that you will remember time spent at Barwon Heads.

Visitors

The Barwon Heads Golf Club welcomes many thousands of visitors each year – some as guests of members, others as green fee players, event participants, function attendees and accommodation guests.

While the Club remains private in nature, limited opportunities exist for visitors to experience its celebrated links and the warm hospitality for which it is renowned. Tee times for green fee play are available on selected days, and visitors are encouraged to combine a round with an overnight stay in the heritage-listed Clubhouse.

Golfers have been enjoying the accommodation within the iconic Clubhouse since 1924. By staying, guests gain a status sometimes described as “honorary membership”, providing access to the facilities enjoyed by members and guaranteed tee times on most days of the year. This option also ensures course access during popular periods such as weekends, holidays and throughout January.

Overlooking the course and coastline, the Clubhouse offers a refined retreat — the perfect setting to relax after a day on the links and enjoy one of Australia’s most memorable golf experiences.

Please note that Clubhouse facilities, including dining areas and bars, are reserved for members, their guests, house guests and those attending designated events or functions. Players and visitors are also asked to dress in a manner consistent with the Club’s course and Clubhouse dress code.

Etiquette

Although many of the practices below are not part of the formal rules of golf, golfers playing the links are expected to observe them.

The R&A rule book states that “the overriding principle is that consideration should be shown to others on the course at all times”.
