Golf Course Guide Ranking 2025

Published on 16th December 2024 in Guest Only

Barwon Heads has retained its ranking as the number one course on mainland Australia. The course has moved up a step to be listed at number four overall, behind three Tasmanian courses.

  1. Barnbougle Dunes
  2. Cape Wickham
  3. Barnbougle Lost Farm
  4. Barwon Heads
  5. Ocean Dunes

Courses ranked in the edition must be available for green fee play most of the year and includes public courses, resort courses and many private clubs which offer access to green fee players. Some clubs, such as Barwon Heads, may require an overnight stay in their accommodation in order to access the course at peak times.

The editors of the publication, recognise the subjective nature of rankings; theirs are weighted 40% on course design, 40% on course conditions and 20% on course aesthetics. This is the 31st annual edition of the Golf Course Guide.

Visitor Play in 2025

With the Clubhouse closed for a $20M restoration until late 2025, prime tee times usually reserved for stay and play guests are being made available to visitors. Even on weekends.

This access is a unique opportunity in the Club’s 100-year history.

But only a limited number of tee times are available each day.

Tee times for green fee play are available daily (outside of member competition times), but availability is limited – particularly on weekends, public holidays and the period from late December to the Australia Day long weekend. We recommend groups book well in advance.

The 31st edition of the GOLF Course Guide (2025) will be available at the end of November.
